La Pèira

Owner Rob Dougan is an Australian composer who brought us the Matrix soundtrack, and we’re told that those movies did pretty well in the box office. Seems like Rob has a talent for creating great things!

A tribute to the terroir where its vineyards are situated, La Pèira means “the stone” in Occitan, the local dialect of the Languedoc and Roussillon. Its wines are all named in Occitan to reflect the heritage and the owners’ dedication to this amazing winemaking region of France.

Lauded by wine critics, La Pèira has taken the wine world by storm.  Its wines regularly receive 90+ ratings and compete against the best Grand Crus, and it has been called one of the top estates in France.  The domain is small, and the wines are very exclusive: each vintage sees only a few hundred cases of each wine, but La Pèira more than makes up for the lack of quantity by giving us unbeatable quality.

The terroir has a rich heritage, with the oldest known French winery dating back to the year 10 AD being located less than 10km away.  La Pèira combines this inimitable terroir and old world savoir-faire with the new world style of its owner to consistently produce some of the best wines in the Languedoc.
